1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using https://careerintel.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The Service
CAREER iNTEL is an AI-powered job-search platform. The service includes resume scoring, AI-driven tailoring, ATS PDF export, job discovery from public sources, application tracking, mock interview generation, Story Bank persistence, and an AI Copilot.
3. AGPL-3.0 license terms
The CAREER iNTEL source code is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL-3.0). The full text is published at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.en.html.
Implications for self-hosters:
- You may run, modify, and distribute the source code under the AGPL-3.0 terms.
- If you offer the service as SaaS to third parties, you must make the source code available to those users (Section 13 of AGPL-3.0).
- We do not require attribution beyond what AGPL-3.0 requires.
We do not provide commercial support for self-hosters. For commercial / enterprise terms, contact [email protected].
4. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
- Better Auth handles authentication; we recommend enabling WebAuthn (passkey) or TOTP MFA.
- One account per person. Sharing accounts violates these terms.
- You must be 16+ in the EU / 13+ in the US to use the service.
5. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the service to create fraudulent identities or fabricated work history.
- Upload Personal Health Information (PHI) governed by HIPAA. The service is not HIPAA-compliant; PHI uploads will be rejected and may result in account closure.
- Reverse-engineer our AI prompts, model selection, or scoring algorithms beyond what is publicly disclosed.
- Use the service to scrape jobs at a rate that violates the underlying public source's ToS (Adzuna, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby).
- Submit applications via automated means using credentials we do not own — we provide tailored drafts; submission is your responsibility (see "No auto-submit" below).
- Use the service to harass, threaten, or otherwise harm any individual or organisation.
6. Your content
- You own your data. Resumes you upload, applications you save, stories you write to the Story Bank — all of it is yours.
- You grant us a limited license to process your data solely to deliver the service. The license terminates immediately when you delete your account (subject to backup retention windows — see Privacy).
- You are responsible for the truth of your content. We provide AI tools that help you frame your experience; we do not fact-check your underlying claims.
7. AI output limits
The AI outputs (tailored resumes, cover letters, Copilot responses, mock-interview questions) are suggestions, not advice. We do not provide licensed legal, financial, or immigration advice. AI outputs may contain errors despite our hallucination guardrail and Zod schema validation — review every output before use.
We make no warranty that AI outputs will result in interviews, offers, or any other outcome. The single number we track is applications-to-interview conversion rate — past performance does not guarantee future results.
8. No auto-submit
We will never submit applications on your behalf. This is a trust commitment and an architectural constraint. There is no code path in CAREER iNTEL that submits an application without a human click. See Why We Don't Auto-Submit for the public-policy version of this clause.
Browser-extension autofill (Phase 4) is autofill-only. Submission requires explicit user click. See the ADR on autofill vs submit for the architectural boundary.
9. Plans + payment
- Free ($0/mo): core happy-path with monthly caps.
- Pro ($19/mo): extended caps per pricing.
- Premium ($49/mo): Phase 2 launch.
- Accelerator ($99/mo): Phase 2 launch.
Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see your raw card data; Stripe stores it as a tokenised payment method.
Subscriptions auto-renew monthly until cancelled. Cancel in Settings → Billing.
10. Refunds
Email [email protected] within 14 days of payment for a no-questions refund. After 14 days, we honor case-by-case refunds for clear billing errors (double-charge, plan mismatch, etc.). Refunds are processed via the original payment method within 7-10 business days.
11. Trial
Pro subscribers receive one 7-day free trial of Premium (Phase 2 launch). One trial per user across the account's lifetime. The trial does not auto-bill — you must explicitly opt in to convert.
12. Termination
- By you: Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete account. 30-day grace period for cancellation. Data is cryptographically shredded immediately; cleartext records remain in cancellable soft-delete state during the grace window.
- By us: We may terminate or suspend your account for material breach of these terms (Section 5). We will provide notice and the opportunity to cure where reasonable.
13. Disclaimers + liability
The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or related to these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $100.
14. Dispute resolution
Governing law + jurisdiction: United States (placeholder pending counsel review, D-16). For users in the United States, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction. The specific US state is a placeholder to be confirmed at counsel review; the United States as the governing jurisdiction is the decided default. International (EU/EEA, UK, Nigeria, Canada) customers may, in addition, exercise any non-waivable rights and remedies — including lodging a complaint with their local data-protection authority — available under their own applicable law.
Disputes will first be addressed by good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 60 days, parties may submit to binding arbitration under the rules of the chosen jurisdiction. Class actions are waived where permitted by law.
15. Changes to these terms
We will notify you of material changes 30 days before they take effect, via email and in-app banner. Minor edits may be published without notice.
